We are pleased to announce that Mayor Jim Schmitt has received an award from the National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention. This prestigious award was given to the Mayor because of his work with Move with the Mayor and Health│1265 and how each of these programs have positively impacted the health of City of Green Bay Employees in the following ways:
“I was so honored to receive this award, and I’d like to thank the efforts of our Human Resources Department, particularly Amber Van Allen, Wellness Administrator for organizing and expanding Move with the Mayor,” said Mayor Schmitt.
National Forum focuses on preventing heart disease and stroke by implementing the ABCS which are: appropriate aspirin use, blood pressure management, cholesterol control, and smoking cessation. The National Forum is also focused on health equity which is defined as the “attainment of the highest level of health for all people” and recognizes that achieving health equity requires a focus on efforts to address avoidable inequalities, historical and contemporary injustices, and the elimination of health and health care disparities.
