The City is excited to announce that the Green Bay Municipal Code is now available online in a fully searchable format. The Municipal Code is the compilation of all of the City’s ordinances. Until this transition, the City only posted PDF copies of the code of ordinances on the City website. This proved difficult for the public to navigate because you could not search all of the PDFs at once, and some of the PDFs were very large documents that took a long time to load. In an effort to improve public access, the City contracted with Municode online hosting service late last year to transition the code of ordinances to a text-based format.
All City ordinances are now easier for the public to search on any device. Municode offers a wide range of options for members of the public to use, but the most beneficial is the ability to quickly find what you are looking for and easily print or share the information you are interested in.
Mayor Jim Schmitt stated, “This is a long overdue upgrade, and one we needed to implement for the community. Our residents want to comply with our ordinances, and now we are making it easier for them to do that.”
The City is currently in the process of re-codifying its code as well, which will make it easier for the public to navigate. The City expects this to be completed within the next 18 months.
