Press Conference for Lime Bike Share Launch
(Green Bay, WI)— The City of Green Bay’s Department of Community & Economic Development is pleased to announce the launch of our bike share program provided by Lime. There will be a press conference held on Monday, July 30th at 10:00 AM. The event will be held immediately south of the Bay Lake City Center Building at 216 N Washington Street. In case of rain, the event will be moved one block south to the first floor of the Cherry Street Parking Ramp.
Press conference speakers include Celestine Jeffreys, Mayor Schmitt’s Chief of Staff; Gwen Jones from Lime; Natalie Bomstad, Executive Director of Live54218; Matt Buchanan, City Economic Development Specialist; and Michelle Bacchus from the Wisconsin Bike Fed.
Lime is a private company that owns and operates bike sharing systems in nearly 70 communities across the country. The cost to ride is $1 for 30 minutes; students and low-income users receive a substantial discount. The Lime system is dock-less, which means the bikes may be found and parked anywhere in the city. Users can locate a bike by using the map in the Lime smartphone app. After completing a trip, riders should park it responsibly near the curb on the sidewalk so it does not obstruct pedestrian traffic. Riders are encouraged to park bikes in designated LimeBike parking areas. The parking areas can also be found using the Lime smartphone app, or by the map provided on the City’s bike share webpage (http://www.greenbaywi.gov/bikeshare). More information may also be found at www.limebike.com.
