City of Green Bay Introduces Parklet Program

1234 Polk Street

The City of Green Bay is releasing a parklet handbook and grant program this summer. A parklet is a constructed platform that repurposes curbside parking spaces into additional space for seating, dining, and other activities. Common Council approved a parklet policy in 2020 for businesses to expand their spaces to allow social distancing and outdoor seating opportunities. These seasonal installations may be in place from May 1st until October 31st, generally in areas with pedestrian activity and low speed limits. Interested applicants can fill out a form and submit other required materials at greenbaywi.gov/parklets.

The Downtown Parklet Grant Program provides funding for business owners, non-profits, and commercial property owners in or within a half-mile of Tax Increment District #5. The grant provides up to $5,000 to recipients to use toward materials or construction of their parklet. Grant applications will be accepted June 4 through July 9, 2021.

More information on the parklet program, application forms, and the public meeting are on greenbaywi.gov/parklets.
