(GREEN BAY, WI) The City of Green Bay has been approved for a $10,000 Grants for Arts Projects award to support The Shipyard Underpass Place-making Project. This project will activate and beautify a ±2-acre area under Green Bay’s Mason Street viaduct, which will also serve as the grand entrance to Green Bay’s Shipyard. The City of Green Bay’s project is among 1,073 projects across America totaling nearly $25 million that were selected during this first round of fiscal year 2021 funding in the Grants for Arts Projects funding category. Fourteen grants total were awarded to various organizations within the state of Wisconsin during this grant cycle.

This project will create an immersive public art environment and activate an underutilized space through the addition of murals, sculptures, and other mediums. This project will aid in conveying the neighborhood’s unique identity and history through art, enhance visibility and a sense of safety within the site, and create a special place for the local neighborhood, as well as the greater Green Bay community and tourists.
