City of Green Bay Improves Flood Rating, Lowering Costs for Insured

(Green Bay, WI) The National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System (CRS) has upgraded its rating for the City of Green Bay from a Class 7 to a Class 6. The upgrade means that homeowners will receive a 20% premium discount, instead of a 15% premium discount.

The National Flood Insurance Program offers reasonably-priced insurance to property owners in communities that comply with minimum standards for floodplain management. The CRS is a measurement of how well a community complied with those minimum standards. A community’s rating translates into direct savings for homeowners who take out flood insurance through this program.

The City is pleased to see that its previous efforts have paid dividends; all departments continue to take steps towards both short-term mitigation measures and long-term planning solutions to become more resilient to future flooding events.
