Shipyard Preliminary Concept Plan to be Shared with Public at Open House Event

(Green Bay, WI) – The City of Green Bay Department of Community & Economic Development will hold a public open house to share new information about the planned Shipyard redevelopment project (100 W. Mason St.), including a new preliminary concept plan. All members of the public are invited to visit the open house, especially property owners, residents, and business representatives from within the nearby neighborhood.

Meeting Details:

WHERE: Old Fort Square – 211 N. Broadway, Green Bay

DATE:  Wednesday, July 17, 2019

TIME:   3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, during Broadway Farmers’ Market

FORMAT: Open House

“Over the past seven months, the City coordinated an extensive public outreach effort, where over 1,000 residents weighed in with their opinions at public meetings, stakeholder discussions, or through an online survey,” said Kevin Vonck, the City’s Development Director. “Above everything else, people want to enjoy the river; eat and drink from unique, local establishments; and experience music, art and culture. The plan we’ve created prioritizes the activities residents asked for, and offers a truly unique public space for all ages that will be different from anywhere else in the region.”

The public may view and comment on the Shipyard’s preliminary concept plan. Additionally, now that the primary uses and site layout have been determined, the City will request public input on specific site elements such as the playground, splash pad, and Shipping Container Business Park. The designs for those features will be finalized later this year. Construction on the Shipyard is anticipated to start in Spring 2020.
