City of Green Bay Announces New Employee Program to Promote Volunteerism

(Green Bay, WI) The City of Green Bay, in conjunction with the Volunteer Center of Green Bay, will host a press conference to announce a new program called “Volunteer Time Off.” The main purpose of the Volunteer Time Off (VTO) policy is to give back to the community, by allowing employees to take paid time off to volunteer for charitable causes or events. Each non-represented full time employee would receive 3 days of VTO per calendar year, under the policy proposed by the administration.

The City and Mayor intend to create a work environment that is respectful of employees’ work-life balance. Providing time off for volunteering promotes that balance.

According to Mayor Eric Genrich, “Our reputation for and commitment to volunteerism is what makes us a strong community. The city should actively support and promote these opportunities with our employees, making it possible for more people to find time in their schedules to give back to the community we all love.”

The City of Green Bay is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents, businesses, and employees. The City’s mission is furthered by implementing a VTO policy that enables employees to give back to the community.
