[ARCHIVED] Green Bay seeks entries for sidewalk poetry program

During the month of April the Green Bay Public Arts Commission will be collecting submissions for the new sidewalk poetry program. The program will stamp original poems by city residents and schoolchildren into the concrete. The stamping will be done into sections already scheduled for replacement. This is the first year of the program in Green Bay, but it is inspired by similar programs in Appleton, Wisconsin and St. Paul, Minnesota.

The program is open to all Green Bay residents and students within the Green Bay Area School District. The poem may be previously published, but it must be the original work of the entrant.

There are a few guidelines:

Poems must be made up of 8 or fewer lines, have no more than 30 characters per line and no more than 240 characters overall, including spaces.

The Green Bay Public Arts Commission is looking for poetry with subject matter that is appropriate for readers of all ages.

An application form can be found on the Green Bay Public Arts Commission web page here.

To submit a poem, fill out the application form and drop it off at City Hall - Department of Community and Economic Development,100 North Jefferson Street – Room 608, Green Bay, WI 54301-5026 or email to by April 30, 2019. The final selections will be announced later in May.
