Recycling is mandatory in the state of Wisconsin
Curbside Collection
All recyclables need to be placed loosely in your recycling cart with the lid closed.
Plastic Bags
Plastic bags are not recyclable through curbside collection.
NexTrex Recycling Program
The City of Green Bay is participating in NexTrex® Recycling Challenge! NexTrex plastic recycling bins are located at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Center and Observation Building as well as City Hall. Items accepted include:
- Grocery bags
- Bread bags
- Bubble wrap
- Dry cleaning bags
- Newspaper sleeves
- Ice bags
- Plastic shipping envelopes
- Ziploc & other resealable food storage bags
- Cereal bags
- Water bottle case overwraps
- Salt bags
- Pallet wrap/film/bags
- Produce bags
This program keeps plastic out of landfills. The only requirement is to please donate plastic that is dry, clean and free of any food residue.

Local Plastic Bag Recycling
You may also recycle plastic bags by bringing them to a grocery or department store collection bin. A list of these locations can be found by entering your zip code at the Plastic Film Recycling website.
