Bird E-Scooters & E-Bikes
The City of Green Bay is partnering with Bird, a leader in environmentally friendly electric transportation, to bring shared e-scooters and e-bikes to the City. These eco-friendly transportation options can be activated through Bird’s free mobile application and used to replace gas-powered car trips when going to the store, meeting up with friends, exploring the community and taking many other daily trips. Bird aims to make cities more livable by reducing car trips, traffic, and carbon emissions. The e-scooters and e-bikes also provide a fun and effective way to get around Green Bay while offering residents without cars another transportation option.
The scooters can be used on roads and in bike lanes and have a maximum speed of 15mph (and as low as 12 mph is some areas). The e-bikes have a maximum speed of 20mph. Both vehicles are equipped with GPS technology to ensure riders are within the designated operating area. Scooters and e-bikes must be parked out of the way of pedestrians and never blocking driveways or building access. Riders must be 18-years-old and above to access the vehicles. Riders are also encouraged to wear a helmet on every ride and are required to obey all standard rules of the road. E-bikes and scooters are not allowed on public transportation.
Scooters and e-bikes should be used like a pedal bike would, yielding right-of-way accordingly. This means scooters cannot be used on city sidewalks in commercial areas, and riders should always walk their scooters when pedestrians are present on sidewalks in our residential areas. On CityDeck, please read the signs that desigate bike and scooters areas versus pedestrian areas. SLOW DOWN when passing pedestrians!
Having an issue with poorly parked scooters or damage? Community Mode allows anyone with a Bird account to report on issues and provide feedback. You will be asked to provide the Bird ID number and the specific issue(s) you are experiencing, then one of Bird's team members will be assigned to correct the issue. You can access Community Mode by tapping the yield sign on the bottom left of the Bird map in your app.
Below is the Operational Zone within the City of Green Bay, last updated on August 4, 2021. E-Scooters are not allowed on the Fox River Trail from Porlier Street to the Village of Allouez. They are also not allowed in the City's parking ramps. For the most up-to-date information on the Operational Zone, please use the Bird app. You will be able to view no-ride & no-park zones, as well as preferred parking locations.
Any questions, complaints, or comments should be directed to Bird, as this is not a City service. Bird Rides can be reached directly at 1-866-205-2442 or view the Bird Help Center.
