Throughout the summer season, each playground site will participate in both city-wide events and in-park special events. Below is all the information needed for what is happening this summer!
Track & Novelty Meet
Thursday, June 29, 11:00 a.m. at West High Stadium
This is the first city-wide event that kicks off the summer season! This event is open to all skill levels with age divisions of 9 and under, 10-12, 13-14, and 15-18. Events include: the 50 or 100 meter dash, cross country run, 3 legged or sack race, running or standing long jump, frisbee or softball throw, tug of war, and a soccer drop kick. Participants can sign up at their individual park or the day of the event at West High.
Wildlife Sanctuary Day
Thursday, July 6, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary
Both east and west side parks will have an opportunity to tour the Wildlife Sanctuary with their Parkees and friends! During the tour participants will experience a live animal program, take a hike through the trails and receive a free bag of corn to feed the geese and ducks! Lunch will be served 12:00-1:00 p.m. and the program will run 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 12, 11:00 a.m. at Fisk Park
This event is open to all skill levels with age divisions of 9 & under, 10-12, 13-14 and 15-18. Events include: 4 square, ping-pong, chess, checkers, tetherball, bean bags, badminton, sand sculpture, basketball free throw and 3 on 3 basketball.
City Wide Sports Tournament
Thursday, July 20, 11:00 a.m. at Colburn Park
Kickball and volleyball will be featured at this year’s Tournament! Teams will consist of children ages 14 and up.
Tuesday, July 25, 6:00 p.m. at Bay Beach Amusement Park
Bay Beach Amusement Park will feature singers, dancers, skits, musicians and other talents from local park participants. Preliminary talent shows will be held July 14 & 15 at local parks where the top acts will be chosen to perform at our 66th annual event.
Kiddie Karnival Parade & Kiddie Karnival
Tuesday, August 1 at Leicht Park
4:30 p.m. – Staging for the parade, the public is welcome to participate with their neighborhood park in the walking parade, come in costume based on the theme. No motorized vehicles. Bikes, wagons and strollers are welcome.
5:30–SHARP – Kiddie Parade begins. The parade will begin at Leicht Park and turn left onto Main St. and will proceed to Washington St. At Washington St. the parade will turn right onto CityDeck Ct. and then enter the CityDeck. The parade will walk down the CityDeck and then turn left on Cherry St., turn left on Washington St. and then return to Leicht Park. Parks will have walking floats, costumes and wheel units.
Approx. 6:30 (immediately following the parade) – Kiddie Karnival begins at Leicht Park. The 36 booths will host carnival games and raffles for all ages. Tickets are 5 cents each. The amount charged for each game varies. The Green Bay School District will be serving free pizza for the first 2,000 participants. Soda and snacks will be available for purchase with cash or tickets.
9:00 p.m. – Kiddie Karnival Ends and Award Ceremony Begins – All 36 parks will be judged on their entry for the Kiddie Parade and Kiddie Karnival booth.
