Employment Information

 

The Green Bay Fire Department currently employs 197 men and women. The majority of employees are assigned to the Fire Suppression (Operations) Division. The firefighters are assigned to one of three 24-hour shifts that, when computed over a 27-day period as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act, averages 53 hours per week.

The current minimum requirements for application as approved by the Green Bay Police & Fire Commission are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree in Fire Science.
  • Current EMT-Basic certification.
  • Current certification as a Fire Fighter II by the State of Wisconsin or an IFSAC accredited agency.
  • Fox Valley Technical College CPAT Certification obtained within the recruitment year.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
