BCHA Meetings

The Brown County Housing Authority’s primary role is to oversee the Housing Choice Voucher program that is contracted with Integrated Community Solutions, as well as to issue housing revenue bonds and provide downpayment and closing cost assistance to qualified potential homebuyers.
The BCHA meets at 3:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month at City Hall, 100 N. Jefferson Street, Room 604, Green Bay, WI 54301.

Downpayment/Closing Cost Assistance

First Month’s Rent Assistance

Clients can contact the Salvation Army at (920) 593-2379 to determine their eligibility and schedule appointments.  Items the Salvation Army will require are as follows:

  • Copy of lease starting for current month (can be yearly or month-to-month)
  • Proof that full security deposit has been paid
  • Proof of income for last 30 days, totaling at least $200 more than monthly rent cost
  • Photo ID
  • Social Security cards for all household members

Eviction Assistance

Clients can contact the Salvation Army at (920) 593-2379 to determine their eligibility and schedule appointments.  Items the Salvation Army will require are as follows:

  • 5-day eviction notice for the current month
  • Copy of lease (can be yearly or month-to-month)
  • Proof of income for last 30 days, totaling at least $200 more than monthly rent cost
  • Photo ID

Vouchers cannot be used at these properties.

Energy Assistance

he Energy Services Bureau oversees the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP).  This includes the federally-funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program and other related programs.

WHEAP and its related services help over 100,000 Wisconsin households annually.  In addition to regular heating assistance, specialized services include:

  • Proactive copayment plans
  • Emergency fuel assistance
  • Counseling for energy conservation and energy budgets
  • Targeted outreach services
  • Emergency furnace repair and replacement

Services are provided locally through Brown County Social Services, tribal governments, and private non-profit or other governmental agencies.

Eligibility for Energy Assistance

Households with income at or below 60% of the State Median Income limits may be eligible for assistance.
