Associated Bank, the largest bank headquartered in Wisconsin, has officially announced its intention to move its corporate headquarters to downtown Green Bay. At a March 26th press conference from the Regency Center on Main Street, Associated Bank CEO Phil Flynn proclaimed the site to be the future home of Associated Bank’s headquarters. The bank plans to invest $4 to $6 to completely renovate the interior and technical infrastructure of the site within the next 12 months.
Per Associated Bank, this corporate consolidation will bring 350 – 400 jobs from the suburbs and outlying areas to downtown Green Bay. With an estimated combined payroll exceeding $20 million, downtown civic and corporate leaders alike see a huge opportunity for additional business development. DGBI Executive Director Jeff Mirkes claimed 30 businesses have contacted him recently to explore downtown options. “Some of those will become a reality because of this corporate move.”
Mayor Schmitt, who has been working behind the scenes on the project for months, addressed the crowd on the significance of this achievement. “Our Downtown momentum continues with the latest commitment of Associated Bank to 333 Main Street”, he said. “With the addition of such a strong, healthy corporation like Associated Banc-Corp, the City of Green Bay is truly becoming a destination for corporate headquarters.”
Associated Bank will renovate the complex one floor at a time, bringing in the first wave of new employees, about 65, as soon as June.
