Along the Great Lake shore of Green Bay lays Bay Beach Park. This City of Green Bay gem offers family entertainment for all ages. The 45 acre amusement complex contains 16 rides, 7 shelters, a dance hall, picnic areas, a playground and softball and volleyball areas.
The Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary is a beautiful 700 acre urban wildlife refuge featuring live animal exhibits, educational displays, miles of hiking/skiing trails and various wildlife viewing opportunities. It is the largest park in the Green Bay Park system and home to the second largest wildlife rehabilitation program in Wisconsin, caring for more than 4,500 orphaned and injured animals annually.
The Sanctuary attracts hundreds of thousands of bird watchers, families and other visitors from across the USA and many foreign countries each year. They come to explore and discover nature while learning the importance of preserving natural landscapes.
The NEW Zoo is located 10 miles northwest of downtown Green Bay, within the Brown County Reforestation Camp. Many types of native plants and animals can be found at the zoo, which features more than 92 exhibits with more than 215 animals from around the world. The NEW ZOO and Brown County Reforestation Camp together function as a 1560-acre recreational area serving over a half million visitors each year. The camp’s miles of hiking, biking, and nature trails will delight the outdoor enthusiast. Winter is great fun for snow-shoers and cross-country skiers combing miles of unbroken forest.
Located in downtown Green Bay along the Fox River, the Neville is a general museum of art, history and science, accredited by the American Association of Museums. It is dedicated to the collection and preservation of significant objects relevant to Northeast Wisconsin, and, secondarily, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The Collections Department supports the museum’s mission through the management and preservation of our collections. There are over one million items in the permanent collections, including historic artifacts, original artworks, archeological objects, still photographs and film.
The Meyer Theatre’s story began on Valentine’s Day 1930 when it opened as one of the many Fox Theatres blossoming around the country. Fox Theatres Inc. spared no expense creating the lavishly-equipped vaudeville house and movie palace. The company was forced into bankruptcy in 1933, but the theatre survived and was operated as the Bay Theatre until 1998.
The theatre is an eclectic blend of colors and styles that can best be defined as Spanish Atmospheric. Heavily textured plaster, decorative columns with gold leaf, intricate painted designs and statues adorn the building.
Weidner Center for the Performing Arts
The mission of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, is to present a wide variety of cultural, entertainment, and educational performing arts to the Northeastern Wisconsin community while also serving as a home for local and University performing arts ensembles.
The vision of the Weidner Center is to create a place for members of the community to be entertained and enriched. It is also the recognition that the Weidner Center is not just a place, but a program that evolves as the face of the community changes and diversifies. The Weidner Center will continue to respond to our changing community by providing more broad-based programs to appeal to audiences from all backgrounds and age groups.
Celebrating its 98th season, the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra is the third largest professional orchestra in the state of Wisconsin. The mission of the GBSO is to provide orchestral performances and music education experiences of the highest artistic quality to Northeastern Wisconsin. The GBSO maintains a roster of 60 musicians and offers numerous community engagements and concerts annually. The Orchestra has grown to include a flourishing Youth Orchestra Program; now in its 42nd season, the GBSYO is one of the longest-running programs in the state and serves approximately 180 students from over 14 counties.
With over 47 acres of attractions and 85,000 visitors annually, the Green Bay Botanical Garden is a dynamic location for educational trips, fitness adventures and private events; particularly weddings. The Botanical Garden stimulates an appreciation for and an understanding of the world of horticulture and the enduring relationships between plants and people. Volunteers and staff serve people of all ages by providing year-round educational and recreational experiences within an environment that enriches, inspires and refreshes; enhancing the quality of life in the upper Midwest.
the ARTgarage is a community art gallery with in-house studio artists and gallery artists. The gallery hosts events and rents space for parties, meetings and more. The gallery also has a wide array of classes, workshops and events to attend to increase your knowledge about the arts and participate hands-on!
