Construction activities for Phase 2 of the CityDeck are underway! Contractors started work in October to build the seawall that will connect a series of boat landings, transient docks, fishing piers and overlooks on the Fox River. The project also includes a floating stage and seating for events right on the water. Construction will be completed during the summer of 2012.
The CityDeck is an active urban boardwalk directly along the river’s edge. The entire project is connected directly to downtown Green Bay via east-west extension of existing and new streets and pedestrian pathways. Its waterfront orientation is reinforced by a series of new and proposed mixed use and residential projects on adjacent private properties. The entire project is intended to re-establish the Fox River as the heart of the City of Green Bay, and to encourage round-the-clock and year- round activity. Many events are held each year on the CityDeck, which last year brought approximately 165,000 visitors to the downtown.
