Green Bay Public Arts Commission Awards Two Grants

Mural Drawing #1

The Green Bay Public Arts Commission awarded two artists a grant from their Annual Grants Program. The awards total $1,250, which will be used to help create two new public art installations for the Green Bay community.

The first recipient is Cindy Mills with the Navarino Neighborhood Association. Navarino Neighborhood Association is located within the area between S. Monroe Avenue and S. Clay Street and E. Mason Street and Cherry Street. Grant funds will aid in the production of their proposed project “Big Blue Chair.” This will be a large scale Adirondack chair constructed later this month and will be located at Navarino Park. In the future artists will have the opportunity to refresh the chair with new painted designs.

The second recipient is Beau Thomas, local artist. Beau Thomas was born and raised in Green Bay and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Requested funds will aid in the creation of a mural titled “Bicycle Mural.” This is set to be created later this summer and will be located at The Green Bay Bicycle Collective at 418 4th Street.
