(Green Bay, WI) Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt and Superintendent Langenfeld will be competing in a friendly food packing competition with handpicked teams to kick off Blessings in a Backpack Day. Blessings in a Backpack is a national organization that provides food for students in need. Volunteers across the country are responsible for the packing and delivery of food to students every weekend throughout the school year.
The U.S. Conference of Mayors declared Thursday, September 18, 2014 “Blessing’s in a Backpack Day,” during which mayors nationwide will join local volunteers in an effort to combat childhood hunger in the United States.
